Yoga

Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. It is the union of the mind, body and spirit. Classes at the Institute contribute to the development of a healthy body, a healthy mind, and healthy soul. Yoga is the inhibition (nirodhah) of the modifications (vritti) of the Mind ( chitta). Yoga essentially consists of the meditative practices culminating in attaining a state where consciousness free from all modes of active or discursive thought, and of eventually attaining a state where consciousness is unaware of any object external to itself.
Yoga is not just about the assanas. It is much more. It is about aligning to our true self. Self-realization is an inside-outside approach. Aligning to the inner presenceenhances the panchakosha (five layers of existence) and is the real alignment. The true yoga practise leads from movement to stillness, from gross to subtle.
